Shoe's Corner

NFL Week #8 2010

Thank you to MYB 2-1 plays last Sunday! Another tough week behind us, as Shoe sees again this weekend- Last week 9-5 SU & 7-7 ATS; not so good, not so bad. This week another "split" week. Shoe has three classifications: "Split", "Normal" and "Flip Flop"- more on that on a later date.
As for last week, Shoe would like to thank these TERDS:
Cedric Benson- The damn football is not a "Hot Potato"! Next time Shoe calls for your sorry ass team to cover, try holding a ball that's not 350 degrees- TERD!
Worthlessberger- Hold on to the damn ball when crossing the goal line- TERD!
Belicheck- I hate the Hoodie! I hate YOU! 4-1 on the 50 w/ 2 minutes left and the momentum NOT in your favor? I HATE YOU- TERD!
Baltimore Offensive Coordinator- Did you forget you have a running game, and you were playing Buffalo? TERD!

This Week's Picks:

MIA@CINCY-2 - Cincinnati the epitome of inconsistency, at home, has a chance to get a win against the best road team in the league. The difference in this game will be the home team. Shoe makes this a contrarian line movement play: CINCY35-MIA24

JAX@DALL-6.5 - Someone please tell me how Dallas is anymore than a 3 point favorite? Crazy as it sounds, Dallas can stop the run, and Kitna might actually bring some life to Big D, in D! Not to mention he's going against Jax' brutally horrible pass defense: Dall38-Jax16

WASH@DET-2.5 - Stafford's back, but is that a good thing? Maybe coming off a bye week. Wash is a solid team but has inconsistency in McNabb, however an uprising star, Ryan Torain. Detroit squeaks on out: DET31-WASH28

BUFF@KC-7.5 - Some really strange lines this week! Hasn't Buffalo put up some serious points as of late, and competed better than we have been led to believe? KC is for real! Shoe don't like Cassel much, but KC has a formidable run game and a young but very capable D and speed on the special teams: KC24-BUFF13

CAR@STL-3 - As I've stated two weeks in a row, a healthy Steven Jackson a STL win! Not healthy, and not this week: CAR17-STL9

GBAY@NYJ-6.5 - J.E.T.S. Jets Jets Jets!!! This is an interesting game; foreshadowing of the Super Bowl? I have a feeling even with GBAY dung up that this game is going to be the most exciting game of the week: GBAY23-NYJ21

DEN@SF-1 - Not really a home game for either team at Wembley (tennis anyone?). Denver is coming off an embarrassing loss to Oakland, and San Fran is going with Troy Smith at QB... Normally we here at MYB like the back up QB "theory", but not this time- Coach Mike- bad choice; Troy is not your man! DEN48-SF31

TEN@SD-3.5 - There's that damn hook again! Last week Terd Benson stuck it to me calling for taking the hook with Cincy; this week Shoe calls for it again, but maybe, just maybe Chris Johnson will be wearing pot holders: SD24-TEN21

TBAY@ARIZ-3 - ARIZ QB woes continue! This game is a real stink fest: TB9-ARIZ6

MINN@NE-5.5 - Two of my favorite people matched up here: Hoodie vs. Fav' ra! As much as I dislike Bret, you got to give the guy kudos for his consecutive game streak, but this guy just won't let go!! Maybe he is afraid to go home- Wonder why? The Hoodie is notorious for beating up QB's when there is blood in the water, and shoe says this time will be Bret's LAST TIME! NE41-MIN17

SEAT@OAK-3 - Ground control to Major Tom...Oakland absolutely buried Den last week with an explosive showing of the run game. Seat has a good run D which will make this interesting considering Oakland will try to build on its' previous success: SEAT21-OAK17

PITT-1@NO - Wow how the mighty have fallen from Super Bowl Champs to a Brownie beat down! Pitt has yet to falter, has played solid and has the record to prove. NO just has not got it going on especially with the SB winner target on their back. Shoe makes the line movement play here: NO24-PITT17

HOUS@INDY-5.5 - Rematch on Indy's turf! Houston soundly beat Indy last time out, which makes me think that Houston has the formula to put it together again. However with Peyton "the sly fox" Manning at the helm, I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve to pull out a close victory: INDY24-HOUS23

NBA PLAYS

Those of you looking for NBA plays please note that I usually do not start posting plays on a regular basis until a couple/few weeks into the season. That being said, it is possible I do find an edge and will post, so check back often and on a regular basis.

MYB'S NFL PICKS FOR WEEK #7

(BUFF @ BAL -14): This one looks to easy, they rarely are in the NFL, especially when "The Shoe" has Baltimore in his eliminator pool this week. The off week saves the Bills from embarrassment. -TAKE BUFF +14

(ARZ @ SEA -7): The winner of the NFC West may finish with 8 wins or less. Seven points is too much to lay in the "wacky west". -TAKE ARZ +7.

(MIN @ GB -2.5):
"The Shoe" says the Packers win a close one, CJ says Mrs. Favre pays Clay Matthews to make sure Brett doesn't leave Green Bay alive. -TAKE GB -2.5.

MYB'S WEEKLY COLLEGE CALLS

BIG TEN- (MichSt -6 @NWestrn): The Spartans are on a roll. They had an opportunity to have a big let down after the Michigan game but were very focused in their dismantling of Illinois last week. Sparty rolls into Northwestern, who it has had some trouble with, going only 1-5 ATS in the last 6 vs. the Wildcats. Northwestern is always pesky, however we feel this years squad is not as good as its 5-1 record indicates. Sparty drops the hammer on the Cats. MICHST 31 NWESTRN 19.

BIG EAST- (Sry @ WVirg -13.5): Syracuse had a huge opportunity to show the Big East it is no longer a pushover and failed miserably last week at home. Pitt QB Sunseri peeled and slice The Orange with 4TD passes in route to a 31pt victory. Meanwhile, Coach Stewart has the 20th ranked Mountaineers humming along. QB Geno Smith has been amazingly efficient throwing 14TD passes vs. only 2INT. Add to that the highly ranked WV defense has only allowed 246 yards per game. We are looking for the Orange to get severely bruised in Morgantown. WVIRG 31 SYR 10.

INDPENDENT- (ND -6.5@ Navy): For whatever reason the Navy triple option attack has not been as effective this year. Big things were expected of The Midshipmen and QB Ricky Dobbs. Navy is 4-2 but have struggled to get there, with Dobbs only averaging 2.9yrds a carry and completing only 50% of its passes. Irish coach Brian Kelly has his squad improving game by game as they are starting to get comfortable with the new system. This one may be tight for a while but ND has too much in the end for the Midshipmen. ND 33 NAVY 20.

MAC- (WMich -7.5 @ Akron):Sophomore QB Alex Carder seems to getting a feel for the Bronco passing attack just in time for upcoming big games against Northern Illinois and Central Michigan that could decide the MAC Western Division Crown. The rebuilding Zips have been a sieve on Defense allowing over 430yds. a game, while the offense has been anemic averaging under 250yds. Broncs kick the Zips in the mouth.
WMICH 35 AKR 20.

BIG 12- (Okl -3 @ Mizzou): A battle of the unbeatens. This shapes up to be a good one. A stingy Tiger defense vs the an explosive Sooner offense. We can't help feel however that the Sooners are much more battle tested than the Tigers. Missouri has fed off a relatively soft schedule and have played 5 of those first 6 at home. The Sooner Schooner chases the Tigers back into their den.
OKL 28 MIZZOU 20.

PAC 10- (Wash @ Arz -6.5): The Wildcats will be without their QB Nick Foles, a loss an already average offense could hardly afford. As for the Huskies, they may end up having played the toughest schedule in the country when it is all said and done. They have knocked off #18 USC on the road and #24 Oregon St. so far. We think Jake Locker and crew keep this one close and perhaps pull off the upset. Huskies trump the Cats this weekend. WASH 24 ARZ 23.

Shoe's Corner

NFL Week #7

Last week Shoe went 9-5 SU, and 7-7 ATS- Not exactly what The Shoe was expecting ATS, but try to figure this out:
1) Whether or Not Coach Tomlin has a "Vegas Style" hit out against him...
2) Whether or Not the Man in stripes that called PI against the Donkeys was on the "take"
3) Didn't you know the the Detroit Lions were the highest scoring team in the NFC?
As for #3- YOU DO NOW!! And wasn't it a beautiful NFL "talking point" once the Lions decided to back door the 10 point spread- at least the commentators thought so! Thanks for that guys, at least Al Michaels makes you laugh when he points out your about to take it in the behind, due to the point spread!

As for this week:

CINCY@ATL-3.5 - Cincy is coming off a bye week, and it's always a good thing when Cincy has "down time" and no one on the team has been arrested! They travel to Atlanta who has been attempting to play it close on both sides of the ball this year. Shoe says take "the hook" ATL20-CINCY17

WASH@CHIC-3 - Coach Shanahan has the 'Skins believin that they can win, now if only they can get some consistency out of McNabb who throughout his career streaks hot or cold. As for Da Bears, I told you last week that I thought they were over rated. Bears lose two in a row! WASH27-CHIC24

PHILLY@TENN-3.5 - Philly is clicking along, and even though they have some defensive run issues, Shoe says Philly steals one from the Titans. Might I suggest there is a score to settle against Fisher for exposing the network (ESPN) request to call late time outs in order to keep viewership for advertising dollars! Shoe will touch base more on this network "interference" in weeks to come. PHILLY23-TENN21

JAX@KC-5.5 - The Jags have more problems than I can explain, they can't stop the pass for one, but that might help them this week. I am not a Cassel fan, as he is mediocre at best. Though KC's Defense is formidable, Shoe says MJD is the difference maker in this game. JAX17-KC14

PITT-3@MIA - Is anyone going to stop The Steelers this year, now that Big Ben is back? Shoe don't think so...The Fish have played well, but coming off a big win, they are due for a let down. PITT38-MIA13

CLE@NO-13.5 - Another week, another Brownie Loss. This game should be close early, like within the first two minutes- LOL! NO45-CLEVE24

STL@TBAY-3 - This could be the highest scoring game of the week. Both teams are week on D, but once again: Steven Jackson as long as he stays healthy takes one home. STL40-TBAY33

SF-3.5@CAR - Can someone explain to me WTF the Books are thinking here?! SF favored away?! God help me...While I love Coach Singletary; I hate Alex Smith- he just plain stinks! Carolina at home, QB change AGAIN! CAR21-SF17

BUFF@BALT-13.5 - Buffalo is coming off a bye week, Ryan Fits Patrick and Patrick Fits Ryan make a perfect couple! In all seriousness Fitzpatrick has given the Bill's O a spark, but even with the bye week, it isn't enough to overcome a pissed off Baltimore D at home who just lost a stunner up in "Hoodie Town" BALT24-BUFF17

ARZ@SEA-6 - Two Schizophrenic teams pitted against each other, both with a winning record, and each looking to take sole possession of first place in the NFC West Division. Arizona starting the rook, so the question is: Who is Jekyl and who is Hyde? ARIZ27-SEAT17

NE@SD-2.5 - Shoe is confused here...Is this the contrarian-anti-contrarian play of the week? Confused? ME TOO! I hate The Hoodie, I hate The Hoodie, I hate The Hoodie! There I said it... NE33-SD31

OAK@DEN-6.5 - This game is always a tough fought battle. Denver is stinging from a terrible last second call against their D on the goal line, and Oakland continues to disappoint. While Oakland's pass D is acceptably good, Orton and Mile High will be a little too much for them. DEN23-OAK17

MINN@GBAY-3 - Favre goes home, after he texts his pee pee, discusses it with the NFL, and who knows what he told his wife?! (To be a fly on that wall!) Even though there is some serious controversy surrounding Brett and "Little Brett", the jerk and The National Favre League will put "them" in position for another amazing come from behind last minute drive- but he won't get it done this week. GBAY21-MINN20

NYG@DAL-3.5 - Dallas really needs to fire their coach. I have no idea what Jerry is thinking here, but more of the same until there is a change. This could be the week Jerry says enough is enough and fires Phillips. The Giants take this one in an embarrassing manner. NYG38-DALL17

MYB TUESDAY UPDATE

MYB'S NFL picks went 4-3 on Sunday and moved us to 11-7 for the year, a 61% clip. We could have easily been much better. A suspicious interference call late in the Denver game cost us what looked to be an easy victory. We also suffered an OT loss in the GB/MIA game. All in all a good, albeit frustrating week.

Check back later this week for NCAA game analysis as well as "The Shoes" NFL analysis for week 7. Have a good week.

MYB'S NFL PICKS FOR WEEK #6

"The Shoe" is very confident this week, so much so he says you can bet the entire slate and ensure yourself of a positive week. We have, however, narrowed the list to seven top plays. Here they are:

PATRIOTS -2.5
EAGLES -1.5
49ERS -6.5
PACKERS -3
COWBOYS +2
BRONCOS +3.5
SEAHAWKS +6

Shoe's NFL Corner

Over the past 8 years Shoe has developed a very strong week to week indicator system for the NFL ATS. Shoe's Corner throughout the NFL Season will net you at least 4 wins in your weekly pool out of a 16 week season, and most likely more! On top of that, for those of you in a ongoing total pool ATS, you will most definitely be in the money at the end of the regular season

WEEK #6 2010
SD-8.5@STL- SD has shown that it has little in the consistency department, has somewhat an explosive offense, less than adequate defense and special team play that is atrocious. St Louis is improving week to week, and has the ostentatious Steven Jackson when healthy. SD31-STL27

KC@HOUS-4.5- What a turn around year for KC. Crennel is the real deal as a defensive coordinator, which has landed KC at a 3-1 record. Houston sits at 3-2 and has a young but productive offense, but lacks consistency on defense. Houston needs this win going into a bye week to prepare for its rematch at Indy on prime time. HOUS24-KC20

SEATT@CHIC-7- Seattle has looked horrible this year in Coach Carol's debut. That being said, can you say trap game for Chicago? Carol has actually shown that he can motivate his team and put a decent game plan together, now if only he had the talent and players to execute. Chicago is over rated based on their record, and Lovie Smith is only as good as Martz makes him look minus a decent D (I'll give Lovie that). SEAT21-CHIC20

BALT@NE-2.5- What a game this will be...NOT! NE has struggled with consistency this year, but a new found running game is about to emerge with Ban Jarvis Green Ellis, be warned Baltimore, you will get beat on the ground, and Shoe says by alot! NE33-BALT17

DET@NYG-10.5- WOW what an explosion in offense by the Lions last week! Not so much this week, back to reality...NYG are running on all pistons and their D is one to be reckoned with. This game is not even close, sorry Lions. NYG48DET13

ATL@PHILLY-1.5- The Eagles are regaining an identity without McNabb and now with or without Vick. They are always tough at home, and Kolb has another shot to prove he was the correct choice to start the season. ATL has been finding itself in tight games, pulling them out in the end- thanks to their running game and some nice leadership by Ryan. Unfortunately not enough this week. PHILLY23-ATL20

CLEVE@PITT-14- How do you handicap this game? McCoy to start against Roethlisberger's first game back: YIKES, but Shoe says take the points and don't be too surprised if the Browns have a shot of pulling out a victory in the end. PITT16-CLEVE14

MIA@GBAY-1.5- Miami is coming off of a bye week in which they were sure to prepare for the Packers with Rodgers at QB and Mathews at LB, but now what?!? Lambeau is a historic and magical place, and this competition goes the way of the Pack regardless who is at QB. GBAY13-MIA9

NO-4.5@TBAY- TBay is coming off an amazing come back and win last week against Cincy! Just ask all those eliminators still stinging this week! Shoe told everyone Indy and Balt last week to win, but that's in the past! TBay is very young and up to the challenge hosting the World Champions this week. NO is struggling to regain it's aura of yester-year. NO24-TBAY20

OAK@SF-6- Let me be the first to tell you I love Mike Singletary- yes Shoe has a man crush! Shoe is heartbroken this year that Coach Singeltary just can not get any respect from his players. So what if they are not treated like prima donnas as the NFL allows and expects from most coaches whose players actually do perform! This week it all changes....Coach Singletary, you get your first win! SF27-OAK13

NYJ-3@DEN- Denvers new found pass attack is for real, thanks to no running game. But as we witnessed last week, when playing the NYJ's and Crazy Rex Ryan's all out blitz packages, it looks as though the Jets can be outsmarted...just watch the end of last weeks game against Favre. This time however Denver will not have to adjust in the second half. DEN23-NYJ20

DALL@MINN-2- Favre is done, so are the Vikings with him. Dallas is in a must win situation, and will show up, finally. Shoe predicts Favre gets knocked out of the game and ends up deciding whether or not to finish the year. DALL24-MINN10

INDY-3@WASH- This is a tough game, Indy has been awful on the road, Sanders is still out, and Ryan Torain is in- not good news for Indy fans. The only player that the Colts can count on is the one and only Peyton Manning. FYI, wouldn't it be weird to see Houston match up against Indy on Monday night one game up in the division? INDY33-WASH30

TENN-3@JAX- The Jags are on a two game winning streak, but who did they play? The Titans are coming off a huge win at Dallas (Shoe picked the Titans to win last week!), It's a home game for the Jags, and Shoe just doesn't see the Titans pulling back to back road games for a W. JAX27-TENN20

MONDAY UPDATE

A lackluster Sunday as we went 1-2. Washington won outright for us as a dog, but Seattle and Buffalo failed to show up yesterday. That puts us a 4-3 in NFL wagering going into week 5.

We have a busy week coming up as NCAA FB has at least one game slated TUE-FRI. We have fared well in weekday games thus far and will look hard for a few more plays this week, stay tuned.

-CJ

Sunday, October 3, 2010

WASHINGTON @ PHILADELPHIA (-5.5)

-TAKE WASHINGTON +5.5

SUNDAY UPDATE

We managed to squeak out a plus .500 weekend in NCAA FB going 4-3. Considering some of the tough luck we have had the last two weeks we are still in decent shape. We will have our NFL plays posted for the early kicks soon. Stay tuned.

BYU (-5) @ UTAH ST.

-TAKE UTAH STATE +5

FRIDAY UPDATE

It pays to wait sometimes. The wise guys were all over the Aggies last night pushing the line down from 3.5 to 2.5. That turned out to be the winning edge, although Ok. St. worked hard to blow a 14 point lead late in the 4th quarter before winning at the gun with a 41 yard FG.

BYU will visit Utah St. tonight. We will continue to monitor the game and update the site later today.
